Number Land

Number Land

High up in the clouds, there was a special place called Number Land. All the numbers lived there together. Number One was tall and straight. Number Two looked like a swan. Number Three was curvy and round. Number Four was square and strong. And then there was Number Five. Number Five had a little round tummy and a flat head on top. He was a happy number, but one day he felt very lost. He didn't know where he belonged in the big number line.

Looking for Friends

Looking for Friends

Number Five walked through Number Land, feeling sad. 'Where do I go?' he wondered. He asked Number One, 'Can I come after you?' Number One smiled and said, 'I'm only the first number, little friend. There are many more numbers after me.' Then Number Five asked Number Two, 'Can I follow you?' Number Two said, 'I come right after One. You need to find your special place too.' Number Five kept walking and asking, but nobody knew exactly where he belonged.

Counting Together

Counting Together

Then Number Five had an idea. Maybe he needed to count to find his place! He found Number One, Number Two, Number Three, and Number Four standing in a line. 'One!' said Number One. 'Two!' said Number Two. 'Three!' said Number Three. 'Four!' said Number Four. They all looked at Number Five. 'Five!' shouted Number Five. He did it! He knew his number now. He came after Four and before Six. 'I'm the number five!' he said proudly. 'I have five fingers on my hand! I have five toes on my foot!'

Finding His Place

Finding His Place

Number Five jumped right into the line after Number Four. 'One, two, three, four, FIVE!' they all counted together. All the other numbers cheered. 'Yay, Number Five!' Now Number Five knew exactly where he belonged. He was part of the counting family. Every time children counted to five, Number Five smiled and did a little dance. He was so happy to have found his place and made new friends. The end.
